Common jobs we handle

Most first calls look like one of these.

  • New hire starting MondayAccounts, email, laptop, permissions — set up and ready before day one.
  • "Are we actually secure?"MFA, password hygiene, backups and a plain-English review of where you stand.
  • Nobody manages our computersIntune and Microsoft 365 set up properly so devices stay patched and consistent.
  • The Wi-Fi keeps droppingNetwork, printer and connectivity issues traced to the actual cause, not guesswork.

Sound familiar?

Most small businesses don't have an IT problem.
They have a "nobody owns it" problem.

If tech support at your company means the one employee who's "good with computers," you're carrying more risk than you think.

Nobody knows who has access to what — including accounts for people who left.

Backups are "probably running," but nobody has ever tested a restore.

Every new laptop gets set up slightly differently, so nothing is consistent.

Your last IT guy disappeared, and no one documented a single password.

You're paying for Microsoft 365 licenses nobody has used in months.

Small problems sit for days because there's no one whose job it is to fix them.

Why AlwaysOn IT

Enterprise practices. Small-business treatment.

You shouldn't need a ticket number to talk to someone who remembers your name.

You get a person, not a queue

The same person who set up your systems is the one who picks up when something goes wrong. Nothing gets lost in a handoff.

Plain English, always

We explain what's wrong, what it'll cost, and what happens if you do nothing — in language you can repeat to your accountant.

Security is not an upsell

MFA, endpoint protection, access reviews and tested backups are part of doing the job properly — not a premium tier we hold back to sell you later.

Local to Connecticut

Registered and operating out of Shelton, CT. When a problem genuinely needs hands on the hardware, we can be there — not three time zones away.

Your systems, documented

Passwords, licenses, network layout and account access written down and handed to you. If you ever leave, you leave with everything.

Built on real experience

Five-plus years across help desk, junior system administration and a current system administrator role — not a side project that started last month.

Getting started

Four steps, no pressure

The first conversation costs nothing and doesn't obligate you to anything.

1

Free consultation

A 20-minute call about what you have, what's frustrating you, and what you're spending now.

2

IT assessment

We look at your accounts, devices, network and backups, and tell you honestly what we find.

3

Clear proposal

A written plan with priorities, timelines and a fixed price. No surprises on the invoice.

4

We take it over

We fix what's urgent, tidy what's messy, and keep it running so you stop thinking about it.

"Stress-free, honest, dependable tech support should be available to everyone — whether you're a small business owner or a home user."

About us

Enterprise-grade IT, run by someone who does it every day

AlwaysOn IT started from a simple observation: small businesses get the worst end of the IT market. The big providers want a hundred seats before they'll return a call, and the cheap option is whoever's cousin knows computers. There isn't much in between.

AlwaysOn IT is that in between. It's run by a Connecticut-based system administrator who spends the working week doing exactly this at scale — administering Active Directory, Entra ID and Microsoft 365 across multiple sites, keeping 100+ endpoints compliant in Intune, reviewing endpoint security detections, investigating phishing reports, and verifying that backups would actually restore.

The point isn't the credentials. It's that the practices your setup gets here — documented access, tested restores, managed devices, MFA everywhere — are the ones that run in businesses many times your size. Most small businesses never get offered them.

Based in Shelton, CT — serving the Lower Naugatuck Valley and Fairfield, New Haven and Hartford counties on-site, and anywhere remote support makes sense.

Questions

Things people ask before they call

It depends on how many people and devices you have and how much of your environment we're taking on. Rather than publish a number that won't fit you, we'll quote a flat monthly price after a short assessment — and we'll tell you upfront if on-demand support would be cheaper for your situation.

Both. Business support is the core of what we do, but we also help home users with virus removal, new computer setup, Wi-Fi problems and general troubleshooting. Same approach either way — we explain what's wrong before we touch anything.

We're based in Shelton, CT, and cover the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Fairfield County, New Haven County and Hartford County for on-site work, plus the wider New England area by arrangement. A large share of what we do is handled remotely, so if your team is distributed or fully remote, distance usually isn't a problem — get in touch and we'll be straight with you about whether we're a good fit.

Usually, yes — even if only for a second opinion. The free assessment tells you what state your environment is actually in. If your current setup is solid, we'll say so. If there are gaps, you'll know about them, and what you do next is up to you.

No. Managed IT works best as an ongoing relationship, but we're not going to trap you in a multi-year agreement to get there. On-demand and project work have no commitment at all.

You take everything with you. Your accounts, your licenses, your documentation, your passwords — all of it is yours and stays in your name. We don't hold environments hostage, and we'll help hand over cleanly to whoever comes next.

For managed clients, response targets are agreed in writing before we start, with urgent issues taking priority over routine requests. For everyone else, we aim to reply to enquiries within one business day. Scheduled work is typically arranged for evenings, early mornings and weekends — if you need someone physically on site at 11am on a Tuesday, say so upfront and we'll tell you honestly whether we can commit to it.
